Red Goez Faster
So, after much deliberation, apart from certain factors outside of my ability to directly control or manipulate (I'm sorry, I just can't really get behind Tauren at all), I've decided that I'm officially no longer playing Alliance-side at all on my main server of choice (alternate servers may still see me when I have breaks in my rhythm - holidays are terribawful for me). Liquidating all of my resources (once again) and sending everything to the character that, when Cataclysm hits, I'm transferring Horde-side (Troll druid, yay!). In other news, I continue to drown in projects as it gets closer to Christmas, so me finding any time to actually relax is becoming less and less likely. Biggest accomplishments I've had in the area of fun are beating Borderlands (and starting the Zombie Island of Dr. Ned - Huge mistake to try this with my 28 Soldier, going to make another push later as my 37 Siren; She's got massively better gear. Side point, BEST INTRO EVER.), and finally breaking a gearscore of 2000 on my new main (a blood elf deathknight). Gearscore is, effectively, a tabulation of the item-levels of all of your equipment, and a small bonus (from 0 to 15 points) from Enchantments. I'm currently sitting at around 2030, and doing ~2.8-3k damage per second in Heroics. Not too shabby, really, given the relatively light time investment. Been focusing a bit more on playing Borderlands lately, though, and may once again swing into Champions just for something different to do to break the monotony that is my playtime. Working on a new writing project, for a personality I sort of came up with out of the blue for a new character (Navide Shadewind - HEY LISTEN) that may cause me to give up on one of my reclamation projects. We'll see how things go. Song tag is for Navide, and her doomed crush. Current Mood: tiredCurrent Music: Rise Above This - Seether |

Two things
First, school. I had a big project I had to do in class. I BS'd pretty much the whole thing, did it all last minute, it was extremely slap-dash and held together with glue and tape, the results weren't what I wanted, and I presented it on 2 hours of sleep. HIGHEST GRADE IN THE MOTHERFUCKING CLASS. I'm GOOD. Secondly, movies. Though I've always been pretty interested in film, I find myself being drawn more to it as of late. Not just because of Avatar, though that helps. Maybe because Gregg and I can LJ comment so I have someone to talk with, and not just gush at Casey nonstop ;p. Or maybe it's because I'm heading back to SoCal soon, and that's where I see most of my movies, since Luri is usually too bogged down with school to go out a lot. Or hell, maybe it's just cyclic. This isn't a bad thing, mind you. I like film, a lot. And I love seeing great movies. I even enjoy seeing shitty ones so I can laugh at how shitty they were (LOOKIN' AT YOU NINJA ASSASSIN). I'm hoping I can expand my list of movies seen this December/January, maybe get a few DVDs of classics, etc. |

We made snow angels in our excuse of a front yard. (Well, I did. B made something deformed.) Even though there was snow everywhere, and clothes had to be changed, and our cat thinks we're insane, and haha I almost drowned short joke, it was the absolute happiest I've been in forever and awhile. |

So hey, about that Avatar movie
Some potential (not reallly) spoilers, so in depth behind the cut. For record sake, I went in thinking it wouldn't be good. ( Har be the review! ) Overall prognosis: pretty damn good indeed, gets my recommendation. |

Ugh
Been having some weird anxiety issues at night for whatever reason, despite finals being almost completely done with. Nothing NEW, the usual batch of low self esteem, no job, and few future prospects. Shit I should be able to handle by now, for sure. Also joining the mix is an increasingly erratic sleep schedule for reasons I really can't figure out, and bizarre and completely unrelated nightmares at night. What the fuck, brain. |

This is why my waifu is better than ice fairies. When you have a music video that is roughly about Yuka taking over all of Gensoukyo and then proceeding to take on every one all at once, it's a sign you are superior. Shit son, I don't even have to dodge bullets with her. |

It would seem that I was mistaken
David Morse gave me an e-mail back and he said he was, in fact, not arrested or anywhere near Berkeley last Friday. So I called the UCBPD about it. They had no clue who he was. So I checked the Yellow Pages. The only David Morse I could find listed told me that he was not arrested on Friday. I called the other 18 people with the last name Morse in Oakland, but no such luck. In other words, a dead end. I contacted the girl who drafted that press release that said Morse was filming at the time of arrest, and she could not verify such claims. This all leads me to ask if that piece of information is in fact even factual. I'll let this go for now. I don't think it would be too wise for me to make any drastic move. |

Ahahahaha, you guys are so bad at this
So now, after the attempted assault at the CAL president, the UC Berkeley "movement" is tearing itself apart, with more and more members realizing how retarded it is and ditching. You guys are not very good at this whole protesting thing, are you? |

We didn't start the fire, it was always burning, since last Wednesday So Kyle posted the letter from SFSU President, Robert Corrigan.I made a superficial comment about how the protesters didn't seem to understand the full extent of what they were trying to accomplish. The comment was trite, and open for misinterpretation. And sure enough, someone bit on, perhaps a little more than they could even bite. Some anon challenged me to defend my stance, and mistook me for an SFSU student. Well, I laid it down with the force of an iron gauntlet, complete with a pithy insult to intelligence. Perhaps I'm being a bit of a troll on the poor child, but the message I send is clear. My final reply, in fact, is quite sincere (except the very first lines). Hitting enter to post that felt SO good. (1:11:58 AM) Kyle: Really, I don't think you're going to get a response, sadly enough (1:12:01 AM) Kyle: I don't think I will either (1:12:08 AM) Chiaki: Oh (1:14:16 AM) Chiaki: I have ways (1:14:20 AM) Chiaki: to be a total douche (1:16:00 AM) Chiaki: hmm (1:16:12 AM) Chiaki: how do I make more people read this wonderful piece of discourse? (1:16:23 AM) Chiaki: Oh yeah, conservative pundit radio (1:16:34 AM) Chiaki: I'll call someone tomorrow. (1:16:39 AM) Kyle: Do not link my LJ to talk radio >:| (1:16:45 AM) Kyle: ... (1:16:48 AM) Kyle: That's the first time in the world (1:16:52 AM) Kyle: That sentence has ever been stated (1:17:21 AM) Chiaki: sorry kyle, your LJ will be a stoop for me to garner infamy (1:22:01 AM) Kyle: D8 |

I figure, now that my finals are over with, I should update with some capitalist ramblings. I'm behind in all of this, so I'll just group them in one post. The following products and events are endorsed by me in some way or form. (^_^)b Otaku Academic Conference on MoeMmmm yep. I don't know what's more amazing, the title or the academic seriousness they invested in this. Guys, don't title your academic conference "Big Brother, What Does Moe Mean?" Can't we get away from "What is this?" to something that gives our field of study a little more... weight. We're being laughed off the stage by other academics for a reason, methinks. Otherwise, this is an interesting sounding line up. Thomas LaMarrre, who has been recently making a name for himself in this realm, is teaming up with Patrick Galbraith, my man, to give a presentation on moe culture. It's to take place on a Friday afternoon on January 8 at the Ottawa University in Canada. Kyoto to host an International Comics Studies ConferenceI'm pretty sure, from the list of presenters and the conference abstract, that this would probably turn out to be an interesting talk. The fact it would cost money to attend and how it's roughly 5,000 miles away, deters me from going. It's mostly the 1,000 yen entrance fee though. Kyoto Seika knows what it's doing though, so I trust this will be good to anyone who can make it. Secret Asian Man: The Daily DaysTo all of my fellow SAM lovers, namely Kyle. A 232 page collection of all the strips produced while syndicated through United Media is going to be published by Tak on Amazon. The book should be shipping in a few days, but the site is taking pre-orders, feel obligated to support him. Once he has a few copies in his own hands, he'll sell signed copies on his site. This is a self-published venture so any support is very appreciated. That's about all for advertisement today. |

Holy shit, the SFSU protesters' list of demands were even MORE rediculous then the Davis ones were http://occupysfsu.wordpress.com/"That the imperialist wars in Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Gaza are ended, and that money is used to feed and clothe the poor." "That the bailout money, all 5 trillion of it, be returned to the people who lost their homes." "That the multinational corporations and oil companies pay fifty percent in taxes" :whatthechrist: |

Abuse! Abuse! Brutality!
The SFSU protest ended peacefully last night, with several students being arrested after none of their demands were met. Unaffiliated students gave a resounding "eh," with other comments including "They pull this shit the week before finals? Douchebags" and "Not even a single cracked skull?" Arrested students claim police abuse and brutality after being peacefully arrested, hoping for one last chance of getting attention. All ends as it should :3 |

In other news, those wondering about me going to Davis this coming weekend: doesn't seem likely, I'm afraid. A mix of schoolwork, not having a place to crash, and having to be in class on Monday at 8am. |
